I went to school kindergarten through 12th grade in Mt. Vernon, South Dakota. My parents still farm east of Mt. Vernon. I graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University and began teaching Middle School Social Studies in White River, South Dakota. After eleven years, I went up to the high school and taught Social Studies for four years. The last year of teaching, I began to work on my master's degree. I completed my master's degree in Education Administration through the University of South Dakota. I was the high school principal in White River for three years. In the spring of 2012 I interviewed for the 7-12th grade principal position in Miller. I was a little nervous, I had not been to a job interview outside of White River in 18 years. I must have done okay, as I am now beginning my 11th year in Miller. It has been an awesome job, I work with a great staff and have super students and parents.
